Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopy Surgery/minimally invasive surgery/keyhole surgery are all the same. It allows doctors to examine as well as treat a lot of female reproductive problems. During the surgery, doctors make an incision(s)/cut(s) near the belly button of a woman. This surgery is done with the help of a Laparoscope and carbon dioxide gas (as it helps to see clearly inside the body). Laparoscopy for Women is done to check if there is endometriosis, pelvic adhesions, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, and internal bleeding/injury. It can also help in knowing the cause of infertility.

Laparoscopy Surgery Procedure
Here at Shachi Women’s Hospital laparoscopy is performed by our skilled Laparoscopic Surgeons, it allows quick recovery to the patient. Here is a simple breakdown of what the process of Laparoscopy for Women in Ahmedabad involves :
-
Step 1 : The first step in Laparoscopy Surgery is to prepare for it. For this, you will have to remove jewellery (if you are wearing any) and change into a hospital gown. An IV line will be inserted in your arm (or hand) to deliver fluids/medicines. Our surgical team will clean the area around your belly button with an antiseptic solution so that infection does not happen.
-
Step 2 : The next is to give you anaesthesia, you will receive either of the two: general anaesthesia (it puts you to sleep), or local anaesthesia (it only numbs the surgical area). Our Laparoscopic Surgeons in Ahmedabad will keep an eye on your heart rate, breath, oxygen level, and blood pressure throughout the surgery.
-
Step 3 : After this, a small incision/cut will be made near (or around) your belly button. A thin tube (urinary catheter) may be inserted into your bladder in case you have any urine in your bladder. Once this is done, carbon dioxide (CO2) will be inflated into your abdomen to create space and better visualise the organs.
-
Step 4 : The laparoscope, a thin, lighted instrument with a camera, is inserted through the main incision/cut we made earlier. The camera shares live photos of your internal organs which allows our surgeons at our Laparoscopy Center in Ahmedabad to examine them closely. They will make some extra cuts if it is required.
-
Step 5 : Depending on the reason for doing this, our surgeons will do what is necessary, which could include: taking tissue samples for biopsy/removing scar tissue or endometriosis/performing a sterilisation/hernia repair, etc.
-
Step 6 : Once the Laparoscopy Surgery for Women Procedure is complete, the laparoscope and surgical instruments are removed, and the CO2 gas will be released from your belly. All the incision(s) will be closed by using stitches, surgical staples, or skin glue (depending on their size and location).
-
Step 7 : Our surgeons will apply a bandage to the incision site(s) and will monitor/observe you in a recovery room until you are awake and stable enough to go home. Before undergoing the discharge phase of Laparoscopy for Women in Ahmedabad, we share the post-care instructions and decide on the follow-up sessions.
How Much Time is Required to Recover from Laparoscopic Surgery?
The recovery time of Laparoscopic Surgery is quick. If the surgery of Laparscopy for Women was about removing a small ovarian cyst, then you can recover fully in 3 weeks only. For complex surgeries, women might need 12 weeks for a full recovery.
